Teacher-led History and Literacy sessions

History & Literacy

Run your own Shakespeare session using the fully-furnished house and its beautiful collections to set the scene. Retell Shakespeare stories using dressing up clothes (provided), the different rooms in the house, the garden and the handling collection which consists of the objects already displayed in the house. The house downstairs has a scullery, kitchen parlour, buttery and dairy. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (one of which houses the legendary King Richard III’s bed), the lobby, the study and the Great Chamber. All of the objects, cupboards, food, chairs and tables can be touched and used to create your own plays. The barn can also be used as a traditional learning space for teaching or performance and as a place to keep equipment and other resources.
