Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Leicestershire County Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
Some elements don’t have sufficient colour contrast which can make them difficult to read for users with low vision, for example some web links. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum).
Skip to content options isn’t available. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks.
Some ID attributes on pages are not unique, so people using screen readers and other assistive technologies may find it difficult to access elements lower down the page. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.1 Parsing.
Some links don’t have unique names. E.g. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)
Some meta data may be affecting the zooming. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.4
Some lists are not formatted correctly
Some pages are missing the first level heading
Some documents are insufficiently identified by file type e.g. Word or PDF
Some iframe elements don’t have a title so people using a screen reader may struggle to access the information e.g. Videos and Facebook feed on the Home page. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, role, value).
Some pages are missing the first level heading. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.6 Headings and Labels
Navigation using a keyboard could be improved e.g.
- it wasn’t always clear where you were on the page. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.7 Focus Visible
- there’s no way to skip the repeated content in the page header (for example, a ‘skip to main content’ option). This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks
We are working on these issues.
