The Leeds Waits tell the tragic story of Mary Queen of Scots and her second husband Lord Darnley, parents of the future King James I. Following Mary’s troubled life in the Courts of Scotland and France and subsequent exile in England they will perform the Scottish, French, Italian and English music she would have known, placing it in context with narration and incidental puppetry.
Costumed performers will play the music of the period on instruments including the shawm, sackbut, bagpipes, recorder, harp, fiddle, hurdy-gurdy and tabor.
