SPECIAL EVENT DAY
See the 1620s House and Garden come alive as costumed members of the Sealed Knot Society move in for the long weekend.
Meet the wealthy family members and their servants going about their business in the house, while outside in the grounds you can explore a tented camp full of early 17th century cookery, crafts, and games. Members of the local militia will also be on hand to show weapons and armour of the time and a herbalist can show you how local medicine was dispensed.
There is an assortment of activities for children and adults including ‘Horse Racing’ (a pastime of the landed gentry), as well as, musket and pike drill.
There will also be an opportunity to see;
- 17th Century cooking and the way food was served
- A Herbalist,
- A Scribe
- Wool Merchants,
- 17th Century Games where participation is encouraged
- Maypole Dancing on the Friday and Saturday
- A Barber Surgeon and
- 17th Century technology
Admission tickets on special event days (during normal open hours) will be subject to a £2 extra charge per person.
