Gunpowder, Treason and Plot
Sunday 7th November, 11:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Discover the story behind the Gunpowder Plot and how the family that lived in the 1620s House lived in the shadow of one of their close relatives being hung, drawn and quartered for his part in it.
See the story of the Plot unfold through a series of short scenarios throughout the day. Learn about the properties of gunpowder and watch a 17th century cannon being fired, while younger visitors can get stuck into some themed craft activities as well as a fun trail.
The day runs as a repeat programme that runs from around 11 am- 1pm & then 1.30pm – 3.30pm.
Usual site admission applies, plus £2 per person.

Christmas at the Manor

Discover how Christmas was celebrated in times gone by! The 1620s House & Garden will be beautifully dressed in Jacobean style decor. See how preparations were made to celebrate the full twelve days of Christmas by the Digby Family.
Join in with festive carols and a mummers play, talk to costumed volunteers about food and feasting, Christmas customs, keeping warm in winter in the days before central heating and all the jobs that had to be done to ensure the holy season ran smoothly.
What’s more, there’ll be festive crafts in the barn and a children’s trail to enjoy!
Normal Admission plus £2. No need to pre-book, just come along on the day.
