An introduction to Mark Making

Wednesday 30th October, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm.

An introduction to Mark Making

Mark making is a term used to describe the different lines, patterns, and textures we create in a piece of art. It applies to any art material on any surface, not only paint on canvas or pencil on paper.

We have, and can, give meanings to the Marks that we make – Tattoos are a great example of how we have inked designs marked/scratched into our skin.

Witch Craft marks are considered ancient graffiti – The most common is the Daisy Wheel, or ‘Hexafoil’, a scratched-in pattern with endless lines that were supposed to confuse and entrap evil spirits.

Join artist Sharon Webb for this unique adult Craft session in which you will seek out the witch marks that were imprinted into the fabric of  our beautiful 13th Century building to ward off evil.   You will use these findings a source of inspiration to develop your skills in frottage (rubbings) and block printing. All materials included.

Tickets £20 and must be booked in advance on 01455 290429 (Open 7 days a week from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm)
