The King's Lutenist

Join Ayres and Graces for a delightful evening of song and poems as they present, ‘The Kings Lutenist’ – a celebration of the music of Philip Rosseter and his contemporaries on the 400th anniversary of his death.

Rosseter was an accomplished composer and musician whilst also managing the Children of the Chapel, a Jacobean theatre group that satirised the many court scandals of the time. He is best known for his work A Book of Ayres, which was published in 1601. He was later appointed court lutenist for King James I from 1604 until his death in 1623.

This charming  concert will feature a selection of Rosseter’s songs, solo pieces, and music from his contemporaries from both England and abroad.”

Doors open 6.30pm, refreshments will be available from the barn.

Tickets are £8 and can be purchased ONLINE or by calling 01455 290429
