The 1620s House and Garden invites you to: Proms at the Manor.
Enjoy an evening of fabulous music in our charming 17th Century Garden featuring the award-winning Desford Colliery Band.
Don’t forget to bring your picnic, blankets and low-backed seating.
The Old Barn café will be open for refreshments.
Adults: £10
Children: £5 (under 3s Free)
Tickets can still be purchased on the door.
Doors: 5pm
Start: 6pm
Finish: approx. 9pm
This is an outdoor event, so please dress appropriately. Well behaved dogs on leads welcome.

Plant Hunter’s Fair – May 2026

One of our most popular events returns this May as we house the top plant nurseries that are sure to have something special for every garden.

Live Lute Music
- Sunday 10th May, 1pm to 4pm
Our resident Lutenist will be bringing the melodic tunes of a replica 1583 lute and a renaissance guitar to the 1620s House.

Shakespeare’s Music – Ayres and Graces concert

Ayres and Graces presents a delightful evening of music, songs and readings from or inspired by the works of Shakespeare.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic
- Tuesday 26th May, 11am to 3pm
Ruffle the Rail Dog has come to the 1620s for some pawsome storytelling, activities and crafts!

Pen and Watercolour Workshop
- Tuesday 2nd June, 10am to 1pm
Learn different pen drawing techniques and ‘dry’ watercolour painting to create your own botanical artwork using flowers and foliage from our 17th Century gardens as inspiration.

Baroness Bolsover’s Afternoon Tea and Talk
- Sunday 14th June, 5pm to 8pm
Baroness Bolsover presents a bespoke Afternoon Tea experience as she demonstrates the DO'S and DON'TS of Afternoon Tea Etiquette.
