
Did you ever wonder about the history of the twelve days of Christmas? Or did you know that in Jacobean England gifts were given on New Year’s Day?
Our manor house has been decorated in traditional greenery and the yule log is ready for the fire.
Join us this December for an intimate candlelit tour around our House, led by one of our passionate volunteers, to discover the secrets of 17th Century Christmas traditions and how the Digby family would have spent the festive period.
There are four sessions running:
- 6pm-7pm
- 6.30pm- 7.30pm
- 7pm-7.30pm
- 7.30pm-8.30pm

Christmas at the Manor
Sunday 10th December, 11:00 am - 3:30 pm
Discover how Christmas was celebrated in times gone by! The 1620s House & Garden will be beautifully dressed in Jacobean style decor. See how preparations were made to celebrate the full twelve days of Christmas by the Digby Family.
Join in with festive carols and a mummers play, talk to costumed volunteers about food and feasting, Christmas customs, keeping warm in winter in the days before central heating and all the jobs that had to be done to ensure the holy season ran smoothly.
What’s more, there’ll be festive crafts in the barn and a children’s trail to enjoy!
Normal Admission plus £2. No need to pre-book, just come along on the day.

Candlelit Christmas Tours

Join us this Christmas for an intimate candlelit tour around our traditionally decorated Manor House.

Candlelit Carolling
Wednesday 13th December, 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us for an atmospheric evening house tour and partake in carols of old as we traverse through the traditionally decorated rooms.
