Summary

Find out about how common plants can transform fabrics. Learn about what colours are can be created using Madder, Marigold, Beech Bark, Nettles and Rhubarb.

Dyeing of fabric has been an important craft for hundreds of years, and different coloured clothing once denoted the status of the wearer.
Discover how mordants work to fix the dye in the fabric and then watch as different dyebaths transform the colour of fabric, having a different effect depending on the fabric used. Each session will last about 20 minutes and you can watch the demonstration on the lawn behind the House.
