Facilities and access
Your entrance fee to the 1620s House & Garden gives you unlimited repeat visits to the site for twelve months from the date of purchase except on Special Events Days. There is a separate charge for events outside of normal opening hours.
- We have a free car park, which closes at 5:00 pm and limited room for coaches. There are three designated disabled parking spaces that are on a slight slope.
- We have a tearoom located in the Old Barn, for tea, coffee, snacks, cakes and light lunches. You will also find information about the plants and their uses provided by The Friends of the 1620s House. & Garden. The tearoom is accessible for wheelchair users. We accept cash, debit cards, and most credit cards.
- The small, but specialist shop in the Old Barn offers souvenirs and gifts, We accept cash, debit cards, and most credit cards.
- There are toilets on site for visitors.
- There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on site for visitors. Approved facilities are available in the accessible toilet.
- Access for visitors in wheelchairs and with mobility impairments is limited to the garden, the tearoom and the ground floor of the House due to steep stairs to the first floor. Ask one of our volunteers and they can provide you with a tablet showing narrated films and photographs of the upstairs rooms.
- We welcome well-behaved dogs on leads on the site. Please note: only assistance dogs are permitted in the House.
- Staff assistance is available on site, please ask on arrival at the site.
- There are baby changing facilities in the wheelchair accessible toilet on site.
- We have accessible picnic tables at various locations around the grounds with an extended end piece to all access with a wheelchair.
- We have a manual wheelchair available for use free of charge. If you like you may reserve it in advance by emailing or calling us.
- We have ear defenders, fidget spinners and other distraction aids available to borrow, If you would like to use these then please ask in the Old Barn Tearoom. We also provide bags to carry them round in.
