Summary

Ayres and Graces take you on a…

16th Century European TourA concert of lute songs and tunes.

There was a surprisingly large amount of continental travel back in the renaissance, mainly by people studying and trying to learn from other countries. John Dowland went south through the states of what is now Germany and down to Italy hoping to meet a famous lutenist there and study the newer musical ideas. Another lutenist and composer, Thomas Campion, went to Caen to study medicine and picked up ideas about French lute songs, some of which he sought to incorporate into his own work.

Let Ayres and Graces delight you with a selection of songs as heard by musicians and others who travelled through 16th Century Europe seeking the best of new music.

£8 per person. Pre-booking is Essential.
